Doing Business With The City of San Diego

For the tenth consecutive year, the City of San Diego Purchasing & Contracting Department has been named a recipient of the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. This award recognizes innovation, professionalism, productivity, and leadership attributes of procurement organizations, specifically automation efforts and utilization of electronic commerce.

There is an easy way to do business with The City of San Diego; the SBDC North San Diego County has developed (using the information on the City of San Diego's website) to provide step-by-step instruction on doing business with The City of San Diego.

Step 1 - Visit the Commodity Listing (PDF: 131K) document which lists commodities purchased by assigned Procurement Specialists. Then, contact the appropriate Procurement Specialist.

Step 2 - If applicable, become a certified with the Small Local Business Enterprise ("SLBE") Program

Step 2 - Fill out the Vendor Application (PDF: 52K) to register as a potential vendor. Registered vendors will be contacted for bidding opportunities.

Step 3 - Visit the Bid & Contract Opportunities web page to view a listing of bid opportunities and download bids or the City Bulletin of Public Notices for Notices of Bid Opportunity.

Step 4 - Attend pre-bid meetings to network
